Ray Keefe -v- Clear Law LLP : Success fee refund of £4,500 including costs

Mr.Keefe approached us in July this year with concerns that he had been overcharged by Clear Law LLP Solicitors of Manchester, who had represented him in a successful claim following an accident at work on 7th December 2015, at the end of which - under the terms of their Conditional Fee Agreement (often called a "no win, no fee" agreement) - they deducted legal fees of £7,700 (including VAT) from his compensation by way of success fees. This was in addition to the £17,759 that they had already received in the way of costs from the insurers of Mr.Keefe's employers.

We took the view that this was excessive and were quickly able to negotiate a refund for Mr.Keefe, which was confirmed in an order by the High Court on 18th October.
